Original Theatre marks the World War 1 centenary with a new play inspired by a Wilfred Owen war poem.
The Truth Untold tells what happens when two former school friends meet again. One is now a Junior Minister in the Coalition Government; the other is a social care manager in a Northern town where a young boy has died in care.  They confront each other across the divide that has opened up between them.

The play marks the directorial debut of Kate Slade, who joined Original Theatre a few months ago; and first appearances with the group by actors Reuben Loake, Benny Curtis and Marie Hickman.  The cast also includes Pete Stockman, Pete Harris and Lorna Wilson.

Kevin Wilson, founder of Original Theatre, who wrote the play, said: “I got the idea from Owen’s poem, Strange Meeting. The First World Warwas a prime example of conflict, but the poem makes the point that, through their suffering, the enemy soldiers had a lot in common, far more than those observing from a safe distance.”

The Truth Untold is a fast moving, one hour play, and is being performed at the Depozitory, Ryde, on May 10 at 8pm.

Ten per cent of ticket sales is being donated to the Veterans’ Mental Health charity, Combat Stress.
Tickets are £6 on the door, or can be reserved by leaving a message on 01983 304130.
